The GNU vervios of Solaris, Nexenta has released Alpha 3 of their distribution. Is it licensed under the GPL? Nope, just the packages are. I prefer to stick with the Solaris express editions but hey, worth looking into if you favor the GNU packages more. OpenSolaris as many know is Suns open source edition of Solaris
