For playing audio and video files in the web browser there are a couple of things that web authors can do. Microsoft with IE 3 created the “bsound” HTML tag. This is limited to Audio files only. Netscape invented the “embed” tag. The “embed” tag allows Audio, Video as well as other objects to be played from the Browser. Its also noteworthy that the “embed” tag also works in IE so you dont have to add two lines for the file to work. The “embed” tag also embeds a controller for whatever application you use to play media files. For this controller not to show up, designate the height and width attributes as “0”.

Here is the proper syntax for “embed”

embed src=”yourfile.wma” autostart=”true” loop=”1″ height=”0″ width=”0″

Dont forget to enclose the statement in the proper brackets. With the embed tag you dont need a closing tag {/embed} its not necessary.
