Why I love the GPL January 30, 2005

Really idiotic article Man I hate the extreme zealots. Joe Barr, Rob Miller among others get on my nerves. Quick to praise all that is GPL, yet if you bring up a flaw in the GPL, and try to make an argument for it. They get all pissy, call you a loser and run away. Shame more and more of the Linux religious nuits are popping up.

This is really cool, Speakeasy, a DSL and Broadband services company, has created an Speakeasy extension that strengthens the capabilities of Firefox to offer specific Speakeasy functions. they are basically the first Broadband company that is doing this. No money has exchanged hands between Speakeasy and the Mozilla foundation. This isn’t the first time a browser has been customized for specific purposes, I myself created a version of Firefox that uses MSN.com as the homepage and put MSN Search as the default search engine. Its available here

Believe it or not, I used to defy my parents bed orders every once in a while to watch him, he was always fun and always had UNIQUE guests. But today the world said goodbye to Jonny Carson, its a shame but he was old. He will be missed most assuredly since millions loved him.

Review: Microsoft Anti-Spyware Ineffective January 22, 2005

What a bonehead, Matthew Fordahl wrote a review about Microsofts new anti-spyware tool, he claims its ineffective, and calls it a waste of time basically. i have tried the Microsoft tool and it needs work, do you folks wqant to know why it needs work? ITS ALPHA SOFTWARE, meaning its not ready for production use and there will be problems. If you dont know that Alpha software doesnt work all the time then you have no business whatsoever writing about software, to be completely objective, i also think the tool is crap, although I had no problems with it and it has found spyware other programs don’t. I dont like the fact its tied into the key system and that Microsoft hasnt taught it yet to distinguish some programs from actual spyware, but unlike Matt, Im willing to wait for the FINAL VERSION!!!!!!!!!! before I pass judgement, Matt is looking for a magic bullet? Im afraid he wont find it at this time.

Jonathan Schwartz’s Weblog January 21, 2005

Jonathan Schwartz wrote a pretty decent open letter to IBM over their refusal to support Solaris 10. Im sure Solaris 10 is a great product and I more than agree with Schwartz that IBM is making a mistake. But IBM is a business and doing a major port of their products to Solaris 10 will be a major project, for IBM to port, Sun will need to provide more than a handful of customers. Until it makes financial sense I dont see IBM doing anything.

Truly Open Code Brings Best Software January 16, 2005

Another eWeak column written by Steven J. Vaughn-Nichols and this time its not a bad article, its just stupid. Its a topic that , who cares. Open Source development is good, its just not the best development method I have seen. It comes down to this. What produces better code is an hypocritcal, lazy and just insane argument to try to make. No matter what side you look at, each side has its valid points and their experts to back them up. I basically chalk up the whole Open Source vs. proprietary Software credibility argument to the old “Which Came first the chicken or the egg” argument.

Macworld 2005 Expo Keynote From a distance January 16, 2005

I finally got a chance to view the Macworld 2005 Keynote online. Very nice, new products the round up. I love the way Steve refers to Spotlight as their invention, we can just call it WinFS for Mac OS X, blatant ripoff, Dashboard, Blatant rip off of Konfabulator, the new features in iPhoto, blatant rip-off of Picasa. He has the complimentary insults to MS as well as other shit and puts down the Windows OS, regular stuff. Lots of cool demo’s. But if you just want to see the new stuff, go to Apple’s web site, if you just have a few hours to kill, watch the keynote.
