See how shady this guy is? CherryOS has the same issues PearPC has. Right dude, I believe this is an original product and I want to see the source code, seeing as you derived this from an Open Source project, the source has to be made available.

This is the most interesting peice of vaporware I have seen, it actually exists. CherryOS made some fame awhile back because it was proven to be a rip-off of PearPC. I dont think much has changed and I wont be using this software, why? Because I dont trust shady people or their products and this dude is very shady.

About the stupidest thing I have heard. Why, oh why, would Microsoft do this. No object oriented programming, no multithreading support and less than powerful features. Oh great, where is that petition? NOT.

‘Enemies of Linux’ try to undermine OS March 8, 2005

What a friggin jaq-off. Nelson Pratt a member of OSDL is screaming up Linux security and maturity. Whatever, Linux is secure yes, Linux is good yes. But I personally dont see a viable business model where any OSS provider can remain profitable. Support for Linux does suck right now, if you have a problem good luck in getting help from your provider. I dont see that as offering the ‘same level of support as any big enterprise version of Unix’. Im not going to go off in a pissing contest with some people over Linux and how great whichever is but Im going to make a comment on a part of the article:

Pratt cited a recent poll of OSDL members which asked how many had purchased servers with an OS pre-loaded and then removed and replaced it with Linux. Virtually all of them claimed to have taken this action.

“However, going the other way was totally different. We asked how many had swapped out Linux and installed Windows and nobody had,” said Pratt.

To that comment I will say this: No f#$%king sh%^t numbskull, they are a member of OSDL, it wouldnt make any SENSE for them to swap out Linux for Windows, what would be the point. You have to look at A) What do they do their development on eg Linux B) What do they continue to support, err Linux. Now ask them the question. When you buy servers and stations for your Windows and Mac OS development efforts how often do you swap out Windows or the Mac OS for Linux? And I bet virtually all of them will say they dont. Pratt also makes the comment,

” At OSDL we are trying not to be religious about Linux. We do not want to be evangelists about Linux where it is not practical to put Linux. For example, enterprise resource planning and data warehousing are on the horizon but there are not robust solutions yet,”

The whole article and his ‘testimonial’ sounds religous to me. Im not saying Linux is bad but for 80% of what I do right now, its not adequate and I dont think it will ever be, as long as the infighting and inability to make competent and common-sense decisions cant be done by the Linux community. I don’t see a war with Linux and I have often been called a traiterous bastard because I speak out on Linux and that Im often times critical of Linux. Im critical when I think they deserve it, Im just as critical of Microsoft and Apple when they make a move that I think is extremely naive or sensless. And opinions do differ, although I may think its naive or sensless doesnt mean they do as well.

EU Council Adopts Controversial Patent Proposal, this news just makes me so happy. I was actually quite happy and I think this move does show democracy and Free enterprise do work and a persons inventions do belong to him/her, to do with as they please and I will have a giant party when this becomes law.

Judge Makes Tentative Ruling Against Sites in Apple Case March 6, 2005

Im kind of double dged here Apples suit againts the sites Think Secret, Appleinsider and PowerPage is coming along. Im a blogger, I dont consider myself a journalist, I just bring you guys the news that other sites report if I find it interesting enough and I give you commentary thats it. Now if Apple wants to argue that no online news site is protected by the first amendment right then I think the argument is flawed. I consider sites like MacSlash, Slashdot, OSNews, eWeek, and yes even the Register as news sites. I dont go to Appleinsider, Think Secret or PowerPage enough to really comment to them. But, for the most part I dont consider those types of sites news sites. I consider them sites like mine, we bring you the news that we find interesting and offer you commentary. When I made my predictions about Apples future products, Flash Player, PhotoPod as I called it, and a search tool like WinFS. I think what saved me was that they were predictions and not fact yet, although yes I turned out right, I didnt include CodeNames or shipping dates. I feel for these sites but then again when you dangel red in front of a bull you end up with the horns.

Mike Tienneman toke over as the President of the OSI filling the space kleft by Eric Raymond. Personally I think this is a major conflict of interest and someone, non-representative of a group or company should take the helm. This will lead to major problems. Good luck Mike, I hope you follow this one through and can actually be successful. Although its looking bleak.
