Windows cheaper to patch than OSS May 20, 2005

Is Windows cheaper to patch than OSS? I think so in some cases. When you patch Linux you sometimes have to repatch and recompile the kernel, something not having to be done with Windows. Novell’s Kangro has said, with Linux rebooting after a patch is something of the past. Thats bullshit, with a Linux box I have to reboot a few times even with Patch management software. As with all patches on any OS, you should consider testing and checking to see if it breaks something or not.
