OpenOffice 1.1.4 vs Microsoft Office June 12, 2005

Slashdiot has an article about OpenOffice vs Microsoft office. Im not a big MS office fan, I have it on some machines but I do prefer OpenOffice for somethings. One thing I d hate are people who make up speed tests just to promote a product they support. In short this article is ridiculous, provides false benchmarks unless the guy is trying to run it on a slow as hell processor. In other words, total junk. For example, he claims that it takes Word 30 seconds to open on a 2.2 ghz celeron processor, right now Im at an older machine, Windows XP on a 800mhz Intel Pentium machine and it took 8.3 seconds according to my stopwatch for Word 2003 to open. Dont have OpenOffice installed to see how long it takes but alas, Im pretty sure its the same.
