A history of IBM OS/2 July 19, 2005

Wincustomize has a great article on the rise and fall of OS/2. Its pretty indepth and brings out many of the mistakes that IBM made, including delaying shipping and stripping features (sound familiar? SUBLIMINAL HINT: Longhorn). On December 23’rd OS/2 will be in the grave, lid nailed shut and Bill and Steve pissing on the headstone. But if Microsoft is careful, in a few years I might be writing on the rise and fall of Windows. IBM is encouraging all OS/2 customers to go on the Linux platform. Linux or Windows, the migrators will definately get a better user experience.
