Microsoft Patent Upheld January 11, 2006Posted by rjdohnert in Software reviews.
In a little bit of good news for Microsoft, the FAT Patent was upheld by the U.S. Patent and copyright Office. Dan Rachiver of The Public Patent Foundation was kinda, well, pissed and offered a pretty useless critique. Dan was very vocal last year when the patents were found invalid. In fact he was so sure that the patents would be invalidated he said this:
“Dan Ravicher, the Foundation’s executive director, urged licenseeswho’d signed up for Microsoft’s FAT licensing program to tear up theircontracts:
“I hope those companies that chose to take a license from Microsoftfor the patent negotiated refund clauses so that they can get theirmoney back,”
Well Dan, Im sure those companies are glad they didnt listen to your advice.
