Microsoft has unveiled a new image standard dubbed Windows Media Photo format.  This format is quite impressive at first look showing off more detail than JPEG or JPEG2000.  Whether it becomes a defacto standard remains to be seen.

My Take; they are limiting this format to Windows vista and Windows XP which could be a problem should professional photographers take this and run with it.  Depending on licensing and Microsoft bullheadedness could make or break the format.
