If the feds can convict this dweeb, why oh why cant they do anything about other cyber-criminals. Oh yeah, ikts worse to peddle Blade: Trinity on the web, but yet its not worth their time to go after these virus writers and crackers who commit identity theft and hurt helpless victims day after day.

This will be very neat if AOL can really add something of substance. Personally, I dont know what they can offer to make this more attractive to consumers who use Hotmail, GMail or Yahoo mail.

Torvalds: a Solaris skeptic December 21, 2004

I think Linus has done a pretty good interview here. Some of his points are very valid. I dont like the way he is so dismissive of an Open Source Solaris. Remember, Microsoft and others were dismissive of Linux and it has become more of a competitor than anyone thought. He doesnt have the time or the interest to look at Solaris Source code? Linus my suggestion is: Make the damn time.

Yep, Chris Spencer, Linux zealot has encouraged me to switch everyone off of Windows and move them to Linux with this article. Not only does he allow his zealotry to shine through but he also makes some great points. A Linux zealot will argue their poiunt to the tee and he even manages to throw in some untruths and juyst plain blatent lies along with it. Great job Chris, but on a more serious note. if you are into fiction, you might get better entertainment out of Shrek 2 or Blade: Trinity.

Why oh why do I think that most of this article is bullshit? Could it be because I think Stuart Cohen is talking out his ass? Yep, that hits it right on the head.

Seems Virus writers wish to wish everyone a merry christmas. Almost laughable, wonder what they do though when they find a system like mine, or ones that I work on that write prohibit the WINDOWS system folder. the way i set it up only the admin can write to it and everyone else only has read access.

I admit these are nice, but what happens if /when your network fails. Its happened. What about if your Sun Ray Server in Toledo gets shut down by a lightning storm and you are in D.C. and you are in the middle of a project. I honestly dont think Server based computing is the way to ge. Interesting Research project, but I dont think it will be mainstream.

Ran into the Hungarian UNIX site that has posted 113 screenshots of Solaris 10. I have my package but have yet to install Solaris 10, as soon as I do I will let you know how much I either like it or hate it. From what i have seen it looks cool and I am glad they finally settled on the common GUI (GNOME) For their server and desktop offerings.

MSN Desktop Search December 14, 2004

Really ultra cool and a lot better than Google and some of the others I have seen. The only problem I have with it is the deskbar, takes up way to much space but the indexing works fast and it keeps track of everything compared to Googles tool. So how does desktop search work? Very simple, when once installed it keeps track of your files, where you move them, where you store them, any changes that you make to the document. The MSN Desktop Search also indexes Metadata in your documents so you can also search by key words. For example, if i want to find every letter I have wrote to my mom, I would just type in “mom” in the search bar and any document with the word Mom comes up. Now this also helps with organizing my porn collection, yes i have a lot of porn, I can organize my porn by the compexity of the porn. I can organize it by threesomes, straight sex, paint and chocolate sauce and it can tell me what file I want to play. Also by actress name, so if I want to find the Boat porn by Jenna Jameson in the search bar I type “Jenna” or “Jameson” , “boat” or “sex” and Im there. While the Google tool is also web based, Google Desktop Search installs a mini web server app on your computer, MSN does not so I dont get the occasional “404” errors that I used to get with Google. I love, I mean I really love the MSN Desktop Search.

You can download it here

WARNING: Windows 2000/XP only. If you are running anything other than Windows 2000/XP you have bigger problems than not being able to install this tool.
